I actually bought this blacklight to assist in reading old tombstone inscriptions. It does not work for that. However, it is very good at detecting repairs made to china and pottery. I would recommend it for that use.

So the light works, but it is really quite "flimsy". All very light gage material, the battery holder is really low-quality construction. The battery end-cap has a rubber o-ring but the lamp end does not. I will be sure not to get it wet! I had to force the light into the holderit seems a wee bit too small for it. I am hoping that it will stretch. I am using this light in Afghanistan to go scorpion and snake hunting at nightwe will see how it works. I bought this after seeing a report on TV about the bad cleaning practices in some hotels. The light worked well for inspecting my room and showed me that they had in fact done a very good job of cleaning my room. The light did point out a few minor spots that were missed but could not be seen without the light. The light works best in complete darkness as it is not that bright. It is very lightweight and solid which are critical to frequent travelers. I'm happy with the purchase and have recommended it to others.

Bought this for pet urine detection, and it works for that just fine, It picks up every speck of dust on couches and carpet too, so if you're a neat freak like I am, this is an excellent buy for $20. The only problem I had is that 2 LEDs burned out on the first one I bought, but the company sent me a shipping label and a replacement. So I'm happy with the purchase, and with the service. The light is great, and so is the pouch. I don't know if I'd use rechargeable batteries, they seem to work fine, but they dim out slightly as they wear down. Don't freak out if you see green everywhere on your carpet, it may just be that the fibers are fluorescent under UV light. It throws just enough UV light to do its job, It is by no means a floodlight, but it'll work for 6-8 feet. I was not disappointed with the brightness by any means, but I wasn't totally impressed either. You'll definitely find stuff that you didn't know was there.

Didn't exactly reveal too much germs, which was the original reason of buying it. Also, it really glows in the dark which it shouldn't do.
