Here is info you'll need if you're considering buying this item:
I installed this light in a linen closet to give illumination when the door is open. I'd probably do better with two, to illuminate the lower as well as upper shelves, but one will suffice. The 4 LEDs certainly do spread their light in a fairly wide sweep, definitely enough for a drawer, and just enough for a linen closet.
Installing this requires you to screw four screws, accessible when the battery compartment is open and the batteries are out. (If you look at the standard photo of this item, the entire top surface slides to the left revealing the batteries.)
The light turns off when contact is made with a rounded button (not visible in the photo, but located on the face opposite the LED lights.) It's pretty sensitive, which is good. You'll have to install this item such that the face opposite the LEDs contacts the closet door, or drawer surface. No metal plate is required, unlike some other lights.
If you install this on a typical door jamb, you will absolutely have to supply an extra piece of wood the thickness of your door trim (say 1/4" inch or so) in order to give this box a large enough flat surface to screw onto. To say it another way, the typical door stop running around the door jamb is only about an inch wide, and you'll need something about 2 inches to mount this. I used a bit of shim, about 2" square, screwed it onto the side of the jamb.
Unfortunately, you can't install this inside a door on the hinge side, because the way the rounded button is oriented, the closing door will run the risk of snapping off the button rather than pushing it in. It will be no problem installing this almost anywhere else around the door frame. That's unfortunate, because the hinge-side of the door is the most out-of-the-way place for it.
The device is 3" long, 1-3/4" wide, and 7/8" high.
Despite the caveats I gave above, I'm quite happy with this item, the light it sheds, etc. After trying two different "stick up" type of lights, which weren't bright enough and were always left on by someone, I'm delighted to have an automatic light in this closet that won't waste batteries if someone forgets to turn off the light.

Bought this light as an experiment to find a good light to use in my lower kitchen cabinets, as they can be quite dark. This light worked perfectly. Lights up the interior very nicely. It's not focused like other lights I've tried. It's a very uniform flood pattern that covers all of the cabinet. I have it mounted top dead center, so the door activates the switch when it closes. Guests even ask about it when they see the brightly lit cabinet. Ordering more
