We bought two of these for an outdoor area fixture in the back yard. These provide very nice flood lighting for nighttime security around a house. They also are kind of cool looking in appearance, unlike some LEDs. Note that the bulb is very clearly marked with an imprint which says, "Do not use this in a dimmable circuit" right on the neck of each bulb.Best Deals for Philips 422196 17-Watt (90-Watt) PAR38 LED Outdoor Flood Light Bulb
I have to say that I was a bit nervous about spending $50 on a flood light. I am still hopeful that the lifetime is sufficient to recoup the investment, but I'm very happy with the initial performance. Color is good, the light is comparable to the 100W halogen flood in the other socket, and the area coverage is good (comparable to the halogen). When I was testing it you could really tell the difference in the heat output between the LED and halogen lights just holding your hand a foot in front of it. It is easy to see how these will save a ton of electricity. I'll be sure to modify the review if anything bad happens, but with 22 years of lifetime advertised it will be a while before I know if it paid off...
