I bought two of these lights, Moonrays 91851 18-Lumen Wall Mount Solar Powered Deck Sconce, Bronze, and mounted them in full sun on my fence. They are nice and bright, but the batteries only lasted for 2 hours. I switched the Moonrays 1000mAh rechargeables with my own Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables rated at 1900mAh and they lasted over 6 hours! I just purchased the Sanyo XX Battery Powered by eneloop, 2500mAh typical / 2400 mAh minimum High Capacity, 4 Pack AA Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries, and I expect they will last all night. They are made to withstand frozen temps, so they will be good for the outdoor solar applications. The overall cost of the Moonrays increases by about 10 bucks, but that's still only 30 bucks each for lights that shine nicely all night. They are quality lights, and with the higher rated batteries, they are perfect for me.

PS I did the same with Moonrays 95028 Mini Deck Light, Rectangle, which come with one AA battery rated at only 600mAh. I expect the same great results changing to higher rated batteries as I had with the Deck Sconces. I have four of these Deck Lights and, while not as large, are fairly bright covering a smaller area. Very nice accents around the house and yard.

PPS I have to thank another reviewer for the idea of changing the batteries. Of course I can't find his review now, but he talked about the increase in efficiency, so I tried it. If you see another review talking about this, it was probably written before mine.

11/28/12 Update:

After having these lights for over almost 4 months, I have to say, changing batteries isn't the answer! They need 4-8 hours of DIRECT SUNLIGHT to last a 2-4 hours at night, even with higher capacity batteries. This is okay for summer, but hardly of use in the winters of the North. I purchased a couple lights that mount on rain gutters at the same time, Pine Top 511-0028 Plastic Solar Utility Light, White Finish, and they are far superior. They charge in virtually any weather, overcast or not!

I bought these to light up a sidewalk area that is difficult to light electrically, so I tried these. OMG, they are super bright and a breeze to install. Thinking about purchasing more and turning off some of the outside lights that use electric.

We ordered these lights after first tyring a different type offered through Amazon that were not adequate and were returned We were a little skeptical because of previous experience with solar lighting. These lights are great!! Seventeen were installed on our block wall and the lights are very bright. They emit a soft light that extends out about 6 feet at the base. They were easy to install and worked immediately. They are a great addition to out landscaping.

Honest reviews on Moonrays 91851 18-Lumen Wall Mount Solar Powered Deck Sconce, Bronze

Ok advertising is sadly mistaken on this when in says in the description 18 Lumen LEDS and its only one LED and 15 Lumens stated right on the box. You should be aware of this and change it in future listing. The light is also not that bright. I'm disappointed in this product and I bought two....oh well live and learn!

The moon ray attached easily over our back doggie area. We were hoping we would be able to use these lights only and save electricity by not using the electric lights which we have to leave on all night for safety reasons. The first day they worked great. We used two moon rays so the light would be bright enough. Well, if they don't get sunshine for several hours they only work for an hour or so. We attached them so they get direct light. Since it is winter we don't have full sunny days with blue sky that often. Overcast skys don't do the trick.

Hopefully this summer we will have several hours of light from them.

We don't have solar lighting other than these so we expected more.
