I rent a house, and several of the fixtures have GU-24 bases. And, since I live in the middle of nowhere, I soon discovered that I would have to drive forty-five minutes to the nearest hardware store and pay a lot more money than I wanted to for replacement bulbs. Thank goodness I found these adapters! They pay for themselves with the first replacement bulb. They are extremely easy to use, and they work great. The base is about 1.5" (not including the metal prongs), so if you have a limited amount of space in the fixture, I would recommend measuring just how much space you have before buying it. I purchased smaller sized bulbs to compensate.

This adapter seems to be of decent quality. It fit into the GU24 socket a bit looser than I was expecting, but no problems with it falling out, so I guess it is fine.I did notice that once installed on my LED bulb, it seemed to blend into the bulb and obscure the bulb's own base. My concern is that when the LED bulb eventually needs to be replaced (which shouldn't be for a very long time), the person removing it is apt to not notice the adapter and throw it out with the bulb. I wrote on the adapter to address this. It could be somewhat coincidental that the adapter blended with the design of the bulb I used. May bot be a problem with other bulbs.
I guess the idea behind the GU24 bayonet bulb base is that it would force you to switch from incandecent bulbs to CFLs.
One problem is that this takes a commodity item (CFL bulbs) and makes them more expensive. A standard "edison" base CFL can be had for $0.50 locally at a discount store. A GU24 base CFL at the hardware store runs $8 (less online). The lamp I was replacing the bulb in only cost $10 to begin with (including bulb).
It also now slows the conversion to even more power efficient technologies, such as LED. You can find GU24 base LED bulbs, but they run you over $20. It's cheaper to buy this adapter and install a commodity "edison" base LED bulb, which is what I did.
