This is a great little light for the money. I have bought six of the little fellows as I have been very pleased with their construction and quality control be great as I have had no failures. FlareAlert uses Samsung LED bulbs one of the forerunners in LED technology.
I have read about others cheaper and more expensive that have had high failure rates right out of the box. The light emitted to me seems brighter than 500 lumens as it is located about 10 feet away from my Cree 60 watt porch light rated at 800 lumens.
My only regret is that I only bought 5 of the 6 from Amazon; the 1st one I bought was twice the price from another vendor.
I have kept one as a portable work area light source to illuminate my projects while working in low lighting situations and the others for outdoor lighting.
I would recommend these to anyone looking for an area light portable or mounted ( I mounted mine under the eave as they are not waterproof.).
