To operate via the remote you must point the remote directly in to the front lens. Unit would be more user friendly if it had a plug on the electrical cord from the manufacturer. Otherwise product is good quality and lights the areas I wanted to light very well for 10 watts! I liked the product so much that I ordered 6 more with a plug and an antenna to operate the light features.
