I got these to put inside a Chinese style lantern. The lantern is not something I use all year long, but only for Mid-Autumn Festival. The light that originally came with the lantern had ran its life course this year, and I got these votive candles as replacement. I had to device a way to insert this product into the lantern but otherwise it works fine. The so called "wax covered" is a bit far-fetched -it's really just an effect of the plastic I think, that makes it feel a bit velvety to the touch. I agree they would look inconspicuous in candle holders when not turned on but it can't fool real candle lovers who have seen thousands of tea-lights and candles half burnt. The switch and battery compartment are on the bottom, so you cannot stick the candle anywhere using a bit of wax. It can only sit in a holder. The battery compartment is secured with a tiny screw, so you'll need to use both a small screw driver to loosen the screw, and a coin to turn the compartment cap till it comes off. A bit excessive I'd say, but there is no curious young-lings running around in my house. Maybe this double safety design would please the parents among us.
I like it, and hope the battery doesn't need to be replaced often.
I only pulled the battery tab on one out of the two the votive candles. I am assuming the other one works as well. And I also have no information as to how long the CR2032 battery will last.
