These lights (I bought 6 of them to adapt for use in a SCUBA diving light rig) are surprisingly solid, with a glass lens and heavy machined aluminum housing which threads together in 3 parts using silicon O-rings/gaskets. Some had silicone extra silicone sealant added by the manufacturer during assembly. Inside are 3 VERY bright LEDs, attached to a heat-sink plate and finally to the inner housing for cooling. There is a PC board in the back of the housing, which appears to have a voltage regulator, and also features a bridge rectifier, so that the 12v polarity doesn't matter the leads can be attached to the power supply in either polarity. Each LED sits in a smaller plastic can/shroud with a clear plastic lens over it to focus the light into a more-or-less spot beam. The entire fixture draws about 360ma (measured with a DVOM) at 12v, which is quite low considering the impressive amount of light you get out of it. I was definitely happy with the light output vs. current draw.

On the downside, the heavy black power cable jacket has a strange, soft consistency and tends to crack if bent sharply where it exits the housing. Some of the units (2 or 3 of them) had cracked cables right out of the box. The inner 3 wires (which are also plastic-coated wires, not bare) are exposed to the elements where it cracked, and may or may not have allowed water to enter the back of the housing through the cable if submerged (I did not test this). Since I was planning to completely dis-assemble and re-work these lights for SCUBA diving, I was going to replace the cables anyway, so this was not a big deal for me. Also, the clear plastic lenses (the inner ones) had come loose from a couple of the units during shipping, and were rattling around inside the housing. Some of the units were easy to unthread/dis-assemble, and others were VERY tightly sealed with extra silicone seal. I was able to dis-assemble them all and successfully rework them as needed, so that they should handle much greater depth than as originally shipped. These arrived pretty fast, considering they shipped from overseas. I would definitely buy more if needed.

So glad that I substituted the VERY bright LED for the extremely hot halogens. The light from the LED is Very white and very cool. And it remains watertight.

Cons

The cord is WAY too short for a pond. I will have to modify it to place it where I want it.

I had to add lock washers to the bracket to get it to hold a position.

At my son's suggestion I used this light to illuminate my American Flag that I fly outside my home. I used a 12 volt source in the garage and ran wires to it and it is perfect. I had used flood lights in the past and the halogen bulbs were costing me a fortune. Great product.
