It should have been written in big bold letters in the product description or the specifications that the switch REQUIRES A NEUTRAL WIRE connection. One may get a false impression that you can just replace any single pole switch with this one. It's not so. Unlike a regular single pole switch, this one has 3 terminals, one of which has to be connected the hot wire, one to the load wire and the third to the neutral wire which is not always available. (I don't know when it is; may be if the existing switch is a double pole one?) The switch functions OK but the requirement restricts its applicability and, what I think is bad, you find this out only when you purchase and receive the product and read the installation manual. It seems like manufacturers of this and similar products try to hide the requirement from consumers. I'm also surprised that the previous reviewers did not mention this requirement in their reviews.

Works great! Kind of ingenious how the night light is programmable. I made one mistake on install that I'll share with you. In my junction box, I had 2 white wires nutted together, with the black wires going thru the SPDT switch. The 7738 has 4 places you may attach wires to: a black screw indicates where to attach the incoming hot (black) line, and the other black wire that goes to your fixture is attached opposite the incoming black (as the load wire). Where I got confused was where to attach both white wires. They BOTH attach to the same ground screw. The other, green grounding screw may be used independently, as needed. I didn't attach a separate wire here, as the frame of the switch connects to the independent ground return upon installation. Again: VERY pleased with this product!
