This bulb makes a good reading lamp and appears to put out more light than claimed. The light is more of a blue/white light tham a warmer yellow/white. You should consider where you are using this bulb to make sure you are satisfied with the harsher lighting.

I purchased this at a local big box store for $21.-. The package says that this is the "Ultra high performance series led." I decided on this sylvania bulb for several reasons. It is brighter then most at 430 lumens. The soft white color at 3000k is just what I wanted. It replaces a 40 watt incandescent but seems just as bright. I don't notice any strange color tints like blue or yellow. You can touch the bulb directly when it is on and it is only slightly warm. There is no flicker or delay when you turn it on. I use it in a desk lamp without a dimmer. The only negative thing about all LED bulbs is that the cooling fins block the light towards the base. Therefore, they are mostly directional unlike incandescent bulbs that throw out light in all directions.

I purchased mine at a big box store and it stopped working after only 30 hours or so. I have at least 50 other LED lights in different size and shape covering 4 manufacturers and this is the only one to fail so far. I'll be taking it back today.

I have not had any good luck with Sylvania bulbs. It started from fluprescence bulbs. Many fluorescent bulbs lasted only a year or two while it was supposed to last 5 years. We used them up to 3 hours a day. When I called them for the problem, they sent us a $10 off coupon. So I bought LED bulb with it. I thought it was a good deal. Their LED bulb was not as bright as other 40W equivalent bulbs. And surprisingly, the socket got really hot. As hot as incandescent. I tried to replace it with other LED bulbs, and almost burned my hand. I am not sure how well their other products perform. But from my experience, their light bulbs are not good.
