We bought a cheap aquarium that had a lighted cover with 2 large sockets at the top. The incandescent bulbs provided would warm up the water too much in the summer, so I was faced with buying another light.

Luckily, I found these before I did anything else; they stay much cooler, and are quite energy efficient to boot.

They've been going for 3 months now, and I haven't seen any ill effects from the high humidity environment either.

It's a small light bulb that uses less power than an incandescent. There's not really much else to say. Like many CFLs, it takes several minutes to full warm up to full brightness.

It's not a huge deal, just a minor inconvenience. As a general FYI, you can buy LED bulbs (made by Feit) for the same price that use less power and don't need to warm up, for the same price at Walmart. They also sell equivalent CFLs (also made by Feit) for about $5. Both types are in the aquarium section.

Standard showcase lights for small aquariums tend to be weak and cannot support real plant life. By switching to this bulb, my little 2.5 gallon aquarium can now support a number of living plants. The white light also give the aquarium a much more natural feel, as opposed to the incandescent, which gives the aquarium a yellow tint (not very attractive). Just be prepared to deal with some algae problems, as the light is fairly strong. All in all, very happy with this bulbalmost impossible to find in stores.

Good substitute for incandescent bulbs in a piano music light. Bulbs are a bit dim for the firs few minutes, but bright enough. Color is harsher than incandescent bulbs but for this application that's not a very big deal.

Purchased a beautiful hanging paper lantern, with bamboo deco, and needed a safe low watt bulb. This not only fits the bill, it is very long lasting and a real nice glow to it. Would definetly purchase again. Worth the money!
