Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a "starter kit" from "Parts, Peripherals & Accessories International" (PPA Int), the computer accessory company.

Called a 'Starter kit' because it contains a 120v AC to 12v 2amp DC power supply (Label on power supply states input 100-240 volt) & IR control unit with remote but only two one foot sections of multi-color LEDs, nine LEDs per section.

Easy to install and you can add more one foot sections or even 5,10 & 20 foot rolls. (available separately)

Looks like a maximum limit of 36 feet of LEDs for each 2amp power unit/controller/remote.

You can also buy items like a "Y" connector so that you don't have to run all lights in a straight row.

Also available are four pin connectors, 12v extension cords etc.

See the whole PPA International product listing on Amazon for prices and details.

This kit comes with one male to male connector so you can attach one strip to the other. The strips have female connectors on both ends so that you can either plug in the 12v power cord, or the connector that allows more LED strips.

The male pins are very small diameter so be careful not to bend them while handling.

The LED strips can be curved to some extent, in case you have use for it, or if the surface you are sticking them to is not perfectly flat.

I found these pretty bright on the high setting, but that depends on what other light is in the room I'd say, still I can't look right at them without discomfort. In a totally dark room, you can read by the white setting and even with some of the lighter colors.

Remote is good size (see my photo) and has every control needed to turn on/off, dim, change colors, or make the LEDs do automatic "light show" type things. Flashing, dimming etc.

Looking at the specs printed on the power supply I see that it has 12V DC output, also very happy to see that the power supply module was separate from the control unit, using a round plug to attach to the rest of the system.

I do believe this will also make a fun addition to our camper... this system uses 1(dim)to 5(bright)watts PER FOOT, so should not be a problem plugged into a 12V-120V power converter, or running directly off of a 12V battery if I make a new plug to attach to battery or cigar lighter socket.

Might also explore using some of these strips under the overhang on each step of our stairs to light the stairway to the second floor, even on the dim setting they should be plenty bright enough to do that. Although I would NOT suggest using any of the special "Effects" features on stairs, could cause serious vertigo and a fall.

I can see several areas to use this type lighting since it has remote control.

Power supply cord is 34 inches long

The cord on one side of the controller is 12 inches with the one on the other side being 12 inches, control box is 2 inches long for a total reach of 2 foot 2 inches, not counting the 34 inch cord from the power supply.

One thing to note if it matters to you... the "white" light setting is made with the combo of other colors so it's not pure white and has a color tint to it when in use. Nothing bad, just that it's not white white.

They do sell a lower cost white LED version that has white LEDs.

Also, the small diameter connector pins fit rather loosely so I suggest you wrap a single layer of electrical tape around the outside of plugs when you have them the way you want them.

Product is manufactured in China and is being sold by "PPA International"

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have to say I wasn't expecting the brightness given off by these multi-colored leds. They're by far the most amazing leds I've ever seen perhaps 10K+ on the MCD scale to use the fancy techno jargon. And the fact that each SMD led is a tri-color meaning you can basically get any hue you desire is equally amazing.

And so this starter kit should be perfect for hooking up auxiliary lights to your home, rv, camper etc. The wall-wart (the square black power supply) indicates this kit is DC and so would work in a variety of situations even your car.

Unfortunately, there's a couple of small but important gripes I have. Firstly the starter kit is woefully inadequate in terms of extension wiring in fact there's no extension included! So you can hook up your two strips directly to each other or just use one. There's no way to separate the strips, so if you were using this kit to mount under kitchen cabinets you'd have to purchase extra wiring before you even begin to wire the first two cabinets. It's just too little wiring to even call it a starter kit. I'd call it a demo kit.

Secondly the remote and receiver are infra-red. So the controller unit has a small tail with a tiny IR receiver on it which you need to point at if you wish to control the lights. Why this kit isn't RF is mind-blowing. It's such a poor idea to expect users of this system to mount a little receiver in sight of the remote. Especially given the great remote and all the features on it (many colors, brightness, multiple settings etc), well we definitely lose a star there.

So I'm kind of in a pickle on one hand this system could be perfect for adding accent lighting to your home, on the other there's just a couple of nagging bits that turns me off.

Take into account my negative points before you buy if you can live with the IR and are willing to buy extra stuff for the kit before you even begin to mount it then this could be a perfect solution for your home accent lighting needs.

I tried a couple of under cabinet lighting kits before I tried these...others were either too dim or too bulky for what I was trying to do. These lights were by far the easiest to use & install; no screws, no batteries and no hassles. Everything should be this simple! The "Starter Kit" as I call it comes with everything you need. The remote is easy and intuitive, just remember to take out the battery protector. We put these in the corner, under the cabinets and it really offers a lot of light. My wife likes the various colors and at night we dim them to their dimmest setting so we can see around the kitchen without having to turn on the overhead lights (what a waste of electricity, all 12 of them!). Very nice when you wake up in the middle of night and want a drink of water! We have granite countertops, so the various colors really bring out the colors in the granite and wood cabinets. And because the lights are so thin (really thin), you can't tell where the light is coming from, other than that there is light. I haven't tried the extensions, but I can see how those would come in handy if you are wanting to do longer stretches or go around corners. So far these are "THE BEST under cabinet lights I have seen for the money! I will try the longer extensions next and will comment more later on.

Honest reviews on PPA OLSHARGB Home Accent Multicolor LED Lighting Kit

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program LOVE these little lights!! :-)

I was very pleased with this lighting kit -I attached the two lighting strips to the back of one of the horizontal bars of my wrought-iron headboard, so when I turn the lights on, it creates a gentle reading light OR night light, depending on the color and brightness I choose. (The light strips being on the BACK of the headboard's bar means that the light is reflected against the wall and diffused -so I don't have to look at harsh light bulbs, AND the strip of lights isn't visible and doesn't interfere with my decor in any way.)

This product can be confusing when you just read the description and look at the picture -let me clarify in case you're confused:

It does NOT have to be "hard-wired" -the lights simply plug into an outlet and you're good to go.

The two light strips are VERY short -only 1 foot each (2 feet total in this kit). So if you were going to light an entire row of cabinets, for example, you'd probably need to buy additional strips (but you would still only need one plug/remote, as long as the strand is continuous...like Christmas lights).

Yes, you DO have to find some place to hide the black cord that plugs into an outlet. So it might not work in EVERY situation...but I think in many cases you can find a way to cleverly hide the black cord and plug (i.e., under kitchen cabinets, you could just put a coffeemaker or something to hide the cord snaking down to the outlet).

It has an ultra-thin remote control that you use to turn it on/off AND choose from 8 levels of brightness. I personally LOVE the color choices, especially at night when I am in bed -I can choose to make it a white reading light, or just a very dim colored light (there are 15 color choices) for more of a 'night light' effect.

Does your kit seem BROKEN? Well, maybe it's not -the directions that come with this kit are quite poor. Here is what I figured out:

If some people are having trouble getting their remotes to work properly and it seems like you can't turn it on at all, note that there is a 'sensor' on the "secondary" cord that comes out of the small black box that's mid-way through the cord that you plug the light strip into. That seemingly useless (and confusing, since the directions suck) second cord seems to contain the SENSOR for the remote at the end of it (in a tiny black shiny half-sphere; look closely). So if that end of the cord is hidden BEHIND something, it will be hard or impossible for the remote to function. At first I thought my unit was broken, because I had hidden every cord behind my iron headboard. Once I brought that little sensor out front and pointed the remote towards it, it worked perfectly. (This is NOT adequately explained in the directions!)

Yes, this sensor cord is a drawback to the product, as it must be sticking out somewhere for the remote to find it -it's another thing to have to hide around your decor. (But I didn't think it was a big deal.)

ALSO note that you have to pull a clear plastic strip (sticking out of the battery case) out of the remote to get it to work -it's there to prevent the batteries from connecting and running down during shipping.

Overall I am THRILLED with this product...it's great to find a product that can give you "mood adjustable" lighting in small spaces and NOT have to hard-wire it! I am planning on getting more of these for other places in my house. I think this would make a great gift, too -everyone can probably find a good spot for it!

I only deducted one start because of the very poor directions (regarding the sensor in the secondary cord) that can make you think your unit is broken! The directions give you almost no guidance.
