I have 3 of these 1109WW Warm White bulb replacements so far and 1 1109WH white replacements. They really work great. They obviously run much cooler than the halogen bulbs since they use about 78% less energy. The light output for the warm white bulbs is nearly identical to the halogen bulbs. They produce a little less light and perhaps a little more yellow than the halogen bulbs. But I am quite satisfied with them and you can hardly tell the difference. I evaluated the 1109WH white bulbs also since I was not sure which color I wanted. I have a g4 bulb in the refrigerator and that white bulb went in there. The white is just to obnoxious for a living area even though they produce a little more light. All the bulbs have been running for about 2 months so far. I am not sure just how long they will last since it has only been 2 months so far. They say I should get 50000 hours. Everything else they said has been true about these bulbs so I am counting on replacing these in about 15 to 18 years. :) I really got tired of replacing the halogen bulbs in what seemed like every 3 to 6 months and the good halogen bulbs aren't cheap either. I have about 14 of these G4 bulbs in my 5th wheel coach and I plan on ordering them 2 at a time until I replace them all. That way I get the free shipping with Amazon. I highly recommend them especially since I have seen theses bulbs cost 25 to 30 dollars.

Update: It has been about 15 months now since I bought the first ones and all are going strong. I have about 10 of these now and not one has failed.

I have to admit I'm dissapointed. I've been promoting (through blogs/forums) and supporting these LEDs since I started buying them for my RV in Feb 2011 on Amazon, but now they've started to burn out. I've had one burn out completely and 3 others are dimming. I called LED Wholesalers, but they only support a 1-year warranty and wouldn't provide any other kind of support (they said the best they could do was "match" the current price on Amazon.com...really??). It now seems all the $$ I spent to upgrade to LED on our RV (which was alot of $$) will potentially be going to waste.

Very dissapointed I must say. I bought these LEDs specifically because they support a wide voltage range and advertize a long operating time, despite the higher price (at the time I bought). Clearly the 50,000 hours advertized on here (which should be more than 10 years!!) is not supported. There is no way these LEDs should fail after less than 2 years so I can only say the long-term quality of these products is questionnable. I enjoyed them while it lasted, but they shouldn't have failed so soon.

There are other vendors who are supporting 2 years or more now and I would probably recommend going with them.

Feb 2012 update -> Sad to report that yet another LED burnt out. It really seems 2 years is the failure point for these.

Negatives: Cost, although G4 halogens are likewise expensive these are still more costly at least initially.

Size, because of the components mounted on the backside the light doesn't mount flush in the fixture (under cabinet puck type).

Unknown: Longevity, haven't owned it long enough to know if it will last as long as claimed or that the light output wont diminish (I've read that

occurs with some LED's).

Positives: Similar light output to a 10W halogen which surprised me.

Very little, if any, heat.

Realistically they may never pay for themselves however if they last the convenience of not replacing the halogens will make them easily worthwhile and as a previous reviewer stated I will replace the other halogens over time to spread the cost. All said, recommended.

Now a caveat, bought three one has failed after five weeks. Based on that performance I'm now disappointed and question the idea of replacing the rest of the halogens. If possible I would now lower my rating perhaps to two stars.

Update to 11/19/11: The light that failed may have been a fixture problem as I have found that just a small amount of looseness may create a weak connection which can account for flicker or apparent failure. I have since purchased several more and they all work fine, back to five stars.

Great LED replacement for 10W Halogen but they will not work with any dimmer circuits.

Good warm white and very bright but they will not work with a dimmer because they contain their own AC-DC/DC-DC converter.

You need to use G4 replacement that is 12V rated only for PWM dimmers to function.

I have a several Ikea GRUNDTAL G4 countertop fixtures with 2 or 3 bulbs, a total of 12 that needed to be upgraded. I ordered 2 of these LED replacement lamps first to try them out. They worked fine. When I ordered the rest, I received slightly different ones that flickered badly and the transformers made a humming noise not acceptable for a kitchen. The seller was not able to exchange them for the same type that I received in the first batch, so I had to return them and revert back to the old halogen lamps. The seller provided RMA instructions and the return for a full refund was uncomplicated.

My recommendation: order one or two of these first to test them in your fixtures.
