I had put this out in my yard on the grass. I didn't like how it first looked, yes the light is bright but for about 10'' infront of the unit. The light went pretty far but very dim;HOWEVER, I placed this light under my roof and it lights up my whole driveway, along with a sitting area that I have been wanting to buy another light for. Now I love this little light. I gave it 4 stars because it would have a lot potential if this type of light could be mounted and not a stake light.

Really surprised at the amount of brightness this small solar light really puts out. It is a great value for the price. And the brightness will usually last for 8 or 9 hours. Great purchase.

I have about a dozen brands/types of solar lights around the back yard area, especially the pool area. The round glass globes with changing colors seem to perform the best for some odd reason, probably because the internals are better protected. After repairing/reworking most fixtures I have found they are all made cheap as one can imagine typical of mass produced Chinese junk we all have at home.

What brings most solar lighting to it's knees in a very short time is the batteries the companies employ in them; they use the cheapest of junk. The one in my hand is 600mAh these aren't enough to burn for more than 3 hours with a full charge and degrade so quickly I don't know how they keep selling in this country. If you want to remedy the battery problem I have found you can pick up some good rechargeable batteries in assorted sizes here on AMZ that will make your cheap solar lights burn for hours longer as well as having a longer life. The models you want are in the 1600mAh range. Do the math...600mAh compare to 1600mAh. You can get some good 1200mAh models as well that work just as good. By doing this simple swap you can turn your cheap light into a better one for a mere $5 tops.

Another feature you want in solar lighting is multiple batteries. Most lights feature a single battery but if you get some with at least two you will notice the difference immediately. Change those batteries out with nice ones and they should last a year or more, which is better than tossing the whole light within a couple of weeks. I adopt my neighbors lights for this reason.

The LEDs used in typical stick in the ground solar lights are the cheapest available. A small $3 LED flashlight has 10 times the power of the spotlight being reviewed and it is 4.5 volts 3 AAA batteries. You can get these in rechargeable models as well but with the weak LEDs it is of no matter. Again, why these keep selling is a mystery to me. The lenses used on spotlights are a joke and not even funny.

The main problem. The cheap plastic housing used for most inexpensive lights is not weather proof in the slightest. The circuit boards are not protected and corrosion sets in soon after putting the lights in the ground. The on/off switches usually fail after the batteries and render the entire thing worthless.

Now you know why they cost so little and you become dissatisfied with them. I wish companies like AMZ would carry only quality items rather than run of the mill junk one can pick up at Walmart.

I bought 3 pieces of this model and loved the brightness of this; what is marvellous is that its warm white lights which i have been chasing for a long time as most solar lights are white; i called for 3 more pieces as i was very happy with the first lot; hope more solar lights come out with warm white lights.

This light is 10 an 8x LED, meaning 10 lulmens, which is what really matters when comparing lighting. The big question that I had when ordering this is whether it would be any good Northern Ohio, where it's usually cloudy.

I expected it to go less than the 7 hour maximum because it just can't get a full charge here, and such is the case. It does turn on after dark and provide a nice light that's bright enough to shine on my house number from the yard. I get a few hours out of it before it's just too dim.

The quality is better than I expected for the price I paid. It has held up to some very heavy rain.

The only reason for a 4-star rather than a 5-star review is that it doesn't like to turn OFF in the morning. The light sensor is in the solar pannel, and it takes a couple of hours in the morning before it realizes that it really is day time. It has a nice strong light at 10AM. If I tap in on the side, it will turn off. If I don't tap it, it eventually will figure out that it's day time, and will shut itself off.

I would recommend it for lighting up a small outdoor display or some feature of the house in the first few hours of darkness. Maybe in a sunny place it would do much better.
