I bought some of those Ikea gooseneck lamps that convert from clamp-on to mountable (Kvart) for bedside reading lamps. However, Ikea was out of all of the bulbs for those at the store (LED or CFL) so I ended up needing to source them elsewhere. I've been trying to move away from CFLs into LEDs so was looking for an option here and the LED bulb Ikea sells is not easy to obtain online. Options are pretty slim online for the A19 base in general and for LED specifically so I picked these based on some other reviews. So far, they are great. They give you all the behavior you want from LEDs (instant on, cool running so low fire hazard, etc.). They fit these lamps perfectly. The amount of light is right in range for a reading spotlight application and the color is quite good and seems to be as advertised. It isn't quite halogen but it is close enough and more pleasing than most CFLs. It is definitely much nicer than many early generation LEDs. Shipping from China was a little slow as you'd expect but not really a big deal and worked quite well. I can't speak to durability yet (only just installed them). Will they actually last until all my children are in college? That would be great...

Brighter than the halogen bulb it's replacing, and while the color temp is relatively cool it's not a blue as what you'd get from most LED flashlights. Also, STAYS COOL (the light elements are hot to the touch but not enough to burn on a brief contact), this is a great illuminator for close-up work.

It costs roughly 6x what a comparable incandescent does, considering the advantages in power savings, heat safety, and long life, I find the cost acceptable. Shipping from China took 8 days, worth the wait. Build quality is good.

I purchased this bulb to replace an intermediate base bulb in a desk lamp. The lamp would get very hot with the incandescent bulb to the point it would burn you if you touched it. The replacement led of course does not get hot and produces adequate light to make the lamp usable.

It is a good lightbulb. Very bright, way brighter than the 40W that I had before but it is more of a harsh, unnatural light but it works for me since I just need it so that I can see what I'm doing at my work table. But it might get annoying after awhile which is why put 4 stars instead of 5 but otherwise it's good.
