Well, I bought 5 of these. One was DOA. Vendor's customer service was pretty good, and sent me another one. I put 2 of these under my vent hood. In less than a month, one was gone. Counting the DOA one, this is 2 out of 5, dead in one month. Are you looking to save some bills in the long run? Tell me about it.

If you are looking to buy some 12V bulbs, I would recommend the 6 watt bulb with gold color heat sink. Those give out warmer light, and brightness is on par with these so called 9 watt ones. If you touch the heat sink after the light is on for a while, you can tell the gold ones are just warm, while these silver ones are too hot touch. The gold ones are also available from the same vendor at slightly higher cost.

By the way, both bulbs were dead because of dead controlling (transformer) unit.

Overall I am happy with these bulbs for the price. I purchased four bulbs for less than $4 each. (with shipping they ended up being about $5 each; close to the cost of buying a new halogen). Much better price than the $20 each Home Depot variety.

The light produced is a much cooler light than the halogen bulbs they replaced. The light is more like natural white daylight.

The bulbs are not as bright as the 50 watt halogens they replaced which my wife does not like. I would say the bulbs are about half as bright as 50 watt halogens. I like the more cool white look in our kitchen.

The bulbs look nice in the track fixture and fit fine. There is a very slight delay when you flip the switch but it does not bother me.

I like the idea of saving energy when they are on. If these bulbs are really 9 watts as stated then I am only using 36 watts of electricity instead of 200 so my electricity savings is significant. (assuming my wife does not make me put the halogen bulbs back in)

Note: *** I did not try any other LED bulb so I don't have anything to compare it too other than the 50 watt halogen bulbs they replaced

I wanted a very white beam to accent a wall sculpture I have. These bulbs do the trick, not to mention makes my hippy friends happy. The only reason I didn't give it a full five stars is it doesn't like when I try to dim it.
