I'm an Ophthalmologist who frequently has to perform consults on admitted inpatients in the hospital. Usually, these patients cannot get out of bed and into a slit lamp for a thorough corneal exam.

Using the blue LED microlight with fluorescein sodium enables me to assess a patient's cornea for abrasions and other conditions that would break down the corneal epithelium.

The ability to change the brightness of the LED is a bonus of this particular item. Some patients are extremely photophobic, and being able to turn down the light increases cooperativeness with the exam. Plus, this light is also great for performing fluorescein exams on babies in the ER or in the clinic.

I liked this product so much that I have already bought two more as gifts for other ophthalmologists.

I use several of these keychain microlights, white and green. the green works good at night outdoors, adding dimension to the light which the white does not provide in darkness where walking paths are uneven. the white works great everywhere and anytime. Uses common battery and last a long time (well over a year) Even the metal clips have multiple uses well after light wears out (the plastic loop that holds the clip does wear out after a few years of daily use on a key ring).

This is one truly functional, convenient, handy and super cool tool. I bought 3 of them...one for my wife, my sister-in-law and myself. We all love them to bits! Guys are always asking me where I got it...some guys want to buy mine off me and they are offering twice the price! But I'm not letting mine go, now way!

It is amazingly bright and I applaud the sturdy chassis. I like the blue light because even though it is bright it does not disturb others around you unless you shine it directly in their eyes but...why would you want to do that? One day while playing with it I realized it can stay on without you having to keep the button pressed. It pays to read the operating instructions. Strangely enough, my wife discovered that function the same day as I did. That's how much we play around with it!
