Like a previous reviewer, I also found this light at Home Depot for $. I bought one to try and I am quite pleased with the output and dimmer performance on the bulb. The output is slightly "crisper" than standard incandescent bulbs, but very close. I find that I prefer these bulbs over the standard bulbs that I am replacing.I came to amazon looking for the the Cree CR6, while researching the the model at HD (which appears to be identical) because according to Cree, the CR6 is rated for 50,000 hours, and has a 5 year warranty. The one from HD is rated for 35,000 hours, and only has a 3 year warranty. I have no idea if there are any physical differences in the manufacture of the product, or its simply in how they are marketed, so read what you want into the warranty and ratings... But if you can get the CR6 from a reputable supplier for the same price, the extra 2 years warranty might be worth it.
So far, after figuring shipping, and potential risk when buying from unknown online merchants, I haven't been able to find them at the same price. I was hoping to find them on Amazon, where i could use my Prime membership for free shipping!
Best Deals for Cree CR6 LED DOWNLIGHT FIXTURE Replacement LED Light Bulb
Just installed two of these, they work flawlessly on my Lutron digital dimmers. Dims very nicely. And yes, they are brighter than my old BR30s. $25 at home depot! Half price in the store. Not sure what amazon is waiting for with their price.Honest reviews on Cree CR6 LED DOWNLIGHT FIXTURE Replacement LED Light Bulb
I have been dreading the impending phase out of incandescent bulbs. I tried the fluorescent replacements, but they are incredibly bad. Then the LED bulbs came along. I tried a couple others, one from Home Depot, and another from Costco. Both of them, though better than any of the fluorescents, still did not have great light quality, and did not dim well. Then I tried this one, or not exactly this one, but the Ecosmart branded equivalent (still made by Cree) that Home Depot carries for $50. The light quality is excellent, with a CRI of 92 you can barely tell the difference from an incandescent bulb. In fact, when dimmed, the color of these remains the same warm white instead of turning red like the incandescents do.
The dimming is excellent, remaining very close to the same light output as 65W incandescent bulbs on the same dimmer. The light output at full power is about the same as a 65W incandescent, though slightly brighter.
These are of course much more energy efficient and run much cooler too. I also think they look nicer than the exposed incandescent bulb. The only deterrent to replacing all the incandescent floods in the house is the $50 price tag. At that price it is still cheaper than over a dozen incandescents at $6 each so there is really no down side.
