First let me say that I really, really like this light. I purchased one to use in the poorly lit stairway leading to my basement. Right now we only have an electric light at the bottom of the stairs and we did not want to deal with running wires to get power to the top of the stairway. I installed this sensor light on the ceiling at the very top of the stairs. It goes on as soon as the door is opened and illuminates the top several steps which were always in the dark before. Great! So I purchased another one and installed it on the ceiling at the halfway point. I am very happy with the output of these lights. It used to be very disheartening taking those first few steps to go downstairs, but now they are lit up enough to be able to see them. I do, however, have one MAJOR complaint. These lights eat batteries! I used new batteries right out of the package in both of these units. After about 3 weeks, I noticed that the LEDs in one of the units was very dim. I changed the batteries and the LEDs were bright again. A week later, I had to do the same for the other unit! If these lights are going to go through 3 batteries every 3 weeks EACH, that is going to be pretty costly. The strange thing is that the lights are off most of the time. Why are they using so much juice? So it is looking like I have thrown away $16.98 X 2. Not sure what I am going to do at this point as I still need the area to be illuminated. Also not sure if all of these same type of lights are battery eaters. Very disappointing.

With no prior reviews, I took a chance on this one. Even though the plastic feels a little light, design and fit are pretty good, and it has worked reliably.

The pivoting head is very versatile. In our white 5'x7' bathroom, casting the beam upwards from halfway up the wall illuminates it just enough so you don't need to be blinded by the room light in the middle of the night. The unit itself slides in and out of the mounting bracket so, yes, it does work as a flashlight.

The light sensor works well to prevent redundant activation when it's bright. But even though the sensor looks like a fish eye, it only detects motion directly in front of (not off to the side) so you'll want to check placement before mounting. It does turn itself off after about 20 secs if it does not detect sufficient motion. This is a minor inconvenience in the bathroom.

I've had the unit for over a month and the 3 alkaline AAA's (not included) are still going strong. I would have preferred a couple more LEDs for additional brightness. If the price was lower, I'd buy another.

I put it outside my door in the hallway. Someone keeps breaking the hall light, so I'm constantly finding my keys in the dark.

It has a good radius for the censor (about 45 degrees off the center), and the light is bright enough that I can see my keys, and the lock.

I have it hung about 6" from the ceiling.

So far, no problems.

With our bedroom on the ground floor and the kids upstairs, middle-of-the-night trips up and down the stairs happen more often than I'd like.

Goal: a light that would reduce the chance of my missing the bottom step coming downstairs with an infant or child in my hands, without (i) permanently lighting the hallway or (ii) being so bright that the infant or child would be made any more awake than they already were.

Solution: the Fulcrum motion sensor LED light.

It is not beautiful, but it gets the job done.

+ The motion sensor has never failed to turn the light on when I pass by it in the dark (with a minimum of false positives, too).

+ The light is bright enough to clearly delineate the stair treads but, since we can point it down, doesn't shine in our (or the kids') eyes.

+ Still on the same batteries we started with almost a year later, so no complaints there.

+ The light stays on long enough to be useful, but not so long that after returning to bed I lie awake thinking "ok, that should turn off in just another...two...minutes...oh god...it's so late and the alarm will go off so soon..."

Also, it spooks our cats, which I find to be an amusing fringe benefit.

We've got LED motion sensor lights in several spots around the house. Every other one I have lasts for months on end without needing batteries. This one goes through a set of batteries in 3 or 4 weeks tops.

Light output is pretty bright so I suspect this is the reason, but I'd trade 50% less light for 50% more battery any day.

I won't buy another one of these and it sits in the cabinet unused.
