This is a compact little bulb that I bought based on the reviews to use for our garage door opener. The problem is that this bulb isn't very bright, and it doesn't diffuse the light AT ALL. It is basically a weak spotlight. So unless you have a garage door opener that allows you to install multiple bulbs (and I like to be able to see my car door, the house door, and I'm assuming my partner would like to see his car door as well) this is worthless. After I pull into the garage I have to step out of my car and turn on an overhead light to see anything.
If this wasn't just a lightbulb I would return it. I would certainly never buy another, at least in this capacity.

This is one of the better LEDs I have tested for the price, very fit for outdoor service. It is very bright compared to many outdoor LEDs, and yes is on the bluish side. (They have other models with warmer color.)Important to note, it makes no attempt to diffuse the light (the LEDs are bare and outward facing) making it *very* directional and contributing to its "60w" brightness, which is a fair comparison here (as it is with so few LED bulbs.) Indeed it is almost a spot light, in effect. Yes this form factor also has the advantage of being *really* stubby, meaning that it will fit in very constrained light fixtures. And the light covers a much longer area of our yard. (As opposed to a rounder area closer to the house with a conventional omni-directional light.) I like this effect for outdoor lighting, as it is easy to direct right where you really need it and across longer distances, such as aiming it where you park your car or shuffle for your house keys.
Note: So obviously, this is not a bulb you are going to put in a fixture that points toward the sky! It really needs to be aimed downward.
We use them (we have two) with the GE 58420 Light-Sensing Timer Automatic Light Controller. Because this bulb is so short, it can fit in normal fixtures very well even with the added length of the controller. Put the two together, and you really can almost quit counting watts for your outdoor lights. 2 watts over six hours (or less depending on how you set the controller) instead of 24. The two items are a perfect fit for outdoor safety lighting.

I bought this rough service LED light to replace the rough service incandescent lamp in our garage door opener, which tended to burn out with some regularity. Unfortunately, this lamp is too underpowered to give much light in the garage, as well as being too one-directional. I bought 10 two of the 10 were bad out of the box. the others perform nicely. don't expect to get anymore than just a dim area light from these.
