(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)The power goes off in the middle of the night and you are left to fumble for a flashlight in a drawer if you have one. Or, you need to get up and walk to the bathroom or anywhere and need a readily available flashlight. This is HIPE's newest multi-function light and it's so easy to use.

The unit is a tray that plugs into the wall socket and the flashlight sits in the well charging (simple induction). It has a three-prong plug, but this can be rotated at 90-degrees to fit the situation. The tray has a ½" thick LED blue light that stays on for a permanent nightlight. You can set the unit to ON, OFF or AUTO. The bottom switch is not labeled well, so you need to experiment a bit.

In the middle of the night, if the power goes off, the Light automatically lights up. The six (6) bluish LED lights are very bright and will illuminate the room easily. The button on the side will light the flashlight with one press. A second press will put it into strobe mode. A third press turns it off. I would suggest placing this near your bed for convenience.

When there is a black-out, the HIPE light will stay on until power is restored. I have not experienced this yet with my unit, but the idea of it not turning off means it will drain down. When you are done, simply switch the button to OFF. This will start to recharge when power goes back on. Because it is powered by an internal Lithium Ion battery, you never need replacement batteries. Remember those heavy flashlights with the Size 'D' batteries? Those are history and when you compare the price of this light to any ordinary flashlight, you'll wonder what took this invention so long to arrive.

This is a multifunction flashlight that features a nightlight, auto on flashlight when a power failure occurs and a flashing emergency signal. The flashlight uses 6 LEDs and it automatically comes on when the plug-in station loses AC power. The charging base that plugs into the wall socket has a built in night light. There is a switch on the bottom that can be set to Auto so that it comes on when it is dark, Off which means it will not come on and On which means that the nightlight in the base is always on. The AC plug has a rotatable plug so you can set it to accommodate the position of your AC wall plug. The base is an induction charger and all you have to do is insert the flashlight into the base and it will charge without any wired connection to the flashlight.

The flashlight will take up to 15 hours to fully charge if it is completely dead. Once fully charged it will operate for 9 hours. The flashlight has a built in Lithium Ion battery with a rating of 650 mAh of capacity. As long as the base is getting AC power it will be charging the flashlight. When the power fails the flashlight automatically comes on and lights your way in an emergency or a power outage. You can also turn on the flashlight by simply lifting it out of the charging base. By pressing the button on the flashlight while it is on it will change to a flashing strobe mode and if you press it again it will turn off. If the power comes back on you can simply place the flashlight into the charging base and the flashlight will turn off and start recharging.

I liked this product as it makes a good safety light for your home and it would be ideal in a child's bedroom to serve a dual purpose of a night light and a flashlight. It would also be good for use in a basement, closet or in your bed room or kitchen. The flashlight is priced well and at today's cost of throw away batteries I like that it is rechargeable and always ready. I rate this product as a 5 star item.

We bought this flashlight because our 3-yr old likes to play with our flashlights, and we were recharging batteries like crazy. This flashlight was the perfect solution. It plugs into the wall, and we have it in the downstairs hallway, a most convenient location. The LED bulbs are bright but not too bright or blinding. We've only had this product for about a week but so far we are really happy with it.

We absolutely love this light. It puts out just enough light for us to see our way to the bathroom in the middle of the night without having to turn on any bright lights. It plugs into any wall outlet, and the bottom of the charger becomes a nightlight (the switch is on the underside). The flashlight, which is about 5 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide, sits in the charger. If your electricity goes off, the flashlight will automatically turn on so you can find it. You can then lift it out of the charger and use it like any other flashlight. There are six LEDs which provide adequate light to find your way around. The flashlight can be used any other time, of course.

After charging it overnight, we turned the flashlight on and left it on for a few hours. We finally turned it off since we were convinced it would obviously provide plenty of light in a power outage. So I'm not sure exactly how long the light will actually burn. The package says 9 hours.

We plan on getting another one of these for our RV, as it seems we trip the circuit breakers quite frequently in ours. This light would be a perfect gift for kids, the elderly, or anybody who wants the security of a nightlight and knowing that they will have a flashlight in the event of a power outage. A really great product.
