It is a nicely done product, although it will not easily accommodate something like Romex for primary wiring. I had to jumper to it with stranded Zip Cord.
Also, it has only one mounting point. With stiff wiring the assembly could be wrenched around to the point of failure.
Seems to function well so far, but it will not bring my LED assemblies to dark. That may be attributable to their design or the dimmer I have. I'll replace them with something simpler to see if what I have is trying to compensate until it falls below a usable threshold. The current design is more "intelligent" than necessary.

I needed some efficient outdoor LED fixtures, and was tired of the low quality offerings at my local hardware stores. I found these by accident and was impressed. After some research on the manufacturer's website, I determined that these lights were what I needed.

Not really a con, but, the screws supplied with this lamp appear do not appear to be the common junction box thread pitch and diameter. I purchased a bag of replacement screws, but you may not have this issue.
For a little more than $150, you get an American made and designed LED fixture that has a 5 year warranty. Most of the LED options I found at the chain hardware stores (including their websites) were about $30 cheaper, but made in China, and with a 1 year limited warranty. Furthermore, none of said Chinese options looked as good. The circular nub on the front of the lamp is where the mounting screw goes, so the lamp sits an inch or so above where your junction box is located. The mounting hardware is top notch, and the inclusion of a high quality silicone gasket means that any surface imperfections (and potential water seepage) were eliminated without caulking.

I bought this blacklight to charge glow in the dark fishing lures. I do a lot of night fishing and needed something portable and durable I could take with me and keep in my tackle bag. Fluorescent tube blacklights were out of the question. Too bulky and fragile. Cheaper 395 or 405 nm LED flashlights take FOREVER to charge the glow, and the glow pigments used in most lures fades quickly. You spend almost as much time charging the glow as you do fishing. Not with this baby! It charges lures in seconds.

The light from this flashlight is very pale purple-ish blue, not the deeper purple of cheaper LED blacklights. But when you shine it on items that fluoresce, it makes them light up like crazy!
If you want maximum oomph on glow in the dark or fluorescent items, 365 nm is definitely the way to go.
The housing was better than expected. I've bought things like this before and they usually broke quickly, had lose parts, or had LEDs burn out. This was not the case with this product. I'd buy form this place again. Hope this helps people!

Purchased this item to test for NDT applications. Using our calibrated spectroradiometer, the LEDs put out UV-A at 375nm, not the 365nm as advertised. This disallows it from being used for fluorescent NDT inspections. I put batteries in this flashlight and, it was a whole new world opened up.. Places I thought I cleaned would show smudges and stains that I cannot see under regular light. I even checked bills, it will tell you in a big hurry if your dollars are real or not. This light is excellent if you are looking for a fairly cheap true black light. The light is barely visible but it illuminates a wide range of UV responsive materials well. I tested it with Ukraine and US currency and it glowed. The 365 nanometer light wave makes all the difference. Don't settle for anything more in frequency as you will lose responsible.The housing was better than expected. For the price, I didn't expect a great deal from this so-called Gallium Indium Nitride 365nm UV flashlight. I received it along with a pair yellow "protective" safety glasses(sold separately) promptly, a few days after placing my order. The flashlight was packaged in bubble wrap inside of a small cardboard box and the glasses came in a thin, open plastic bag. There were no instructions or paperwork of any kind for neither the light nor the glasses. The flashlight physically appeared as advertised, ie: 3.75" long, 1.125" thick, black anodized aluminum, tail cap switch, etc... The construction is quite shoddy. The cheap, plastic lens was cracked, right out of the box. Removing the tail cap reveals a standard(albeit very cheap) plastic 3xAAA battery carriage. Inserting the batteries is a no-brainer... negative(-) goes to the spring. The unit did not work at all at first. I had to bend, pry, and cajole the springs and tabs on the carriage in order to get proper contact to the batteries, after which it functioned fairly consistantly. I don't have access to equipment to test the peak output wavelength, but I have quite alot of experience with UV lighting and it APPEARS to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 365nm as advertised, as there is very little visible light emmitted from the nine tiny LED's. I tested this unit and it did cause white objects to fluoresce as well as some yellow and orange irridescent items. I was also able to see the UV security marks on my driver's license and cat urine stains are faintly visible under this light. This is however an EXTREMELY weak light and these things can only be seen in nearly absolute darkness and at very close range. Bleached white objects will fluoresce from a few feet away in a totally dark room, but others require the light being held no more than a few inches away, which creates a significant amount of glare from the near UV that bleeds out of this unit. The yellow safety lenses seem to work well enough for a weak, low output light of this kind and they do a fair job of cutting the near UV glare, but I wouldn't trust them with a more powerful UV light. They are also very small as if they were made for a child and quite uncomfortable. In closing, I would say that this light would be adequate for ID verifcation, counterfeit detection, or charging phospherescent fishing lures, if not for it's low output and cheap construction. It is only moderately effective in complete darkness and I don't expect that it will hold up under regular use. If you really need a 365nm UV flashlight for under $200, I would recommend looking into tank007. They're a bit more powerful, more solidly conscructed, and have glass lenses, but if you need one to consistantly perform effectively on the job, pay the money and buy professional equipment. This Ledwholesalers unit is little more than a toy.

It's advertised at 70 lumens, while other similar size lanterns with 3 AA batteries rarely 'boast' about any illumination measurement. However, this one does have ONE 'configuration' advantage over other similar-priced mini lantern models. You can remove the light diffuser, and hang it as a bare-bulb light, upside down, from the top of your tent (or house ceiling if you've pre-placed a hook in the middle of the room's ceiling). By doing that, you considerably boost the light output...in fact I've tried other mini lanterns in the price range, and none come close to this one--providing that you use it in the bare bulb, upside down configuration I've just described. (With the difusser on, and sitting on a table, it's nothing but ordinary.) If you've ever used a lantern, you know that the higher it's placed inside a room/tent, the more 'even' the illumination. UPDATE APRIL 17 2011. What at first appeared to be an excellent product, which I rated 5 star, has a badly designed contact in the battery compartment. This contact is easily bent in the process of closing the battery compartment. Gentle attempts to bend it back repeatedly failed. Finally it broke off, forcing me to make a jumper with #22 wire. While this works fine, if you have a soldering iron available, this is not a failure I would want anyone to experience camping near treeline on a mountain. Fortunately I was only dealing with a power failure and had three other lanterns. This is a great lantern for camp or for shop use. The lantern uses a single button on the front; click it once to turn the light on high (65 lumens), a second time to turn it on low (25 lumens), and a third to turn it off. From off, hold the button in for three seconds and the light will go into a flashing (strobing) mode in the high setting at about one pulse per second.Output is great on this thing, especially considering that it uses three AAA batteries. Speaking of batteries, it can use any kind safely; alkaline, NiMH, lithium, or even NiCad. Three Duracell alkalines are included. I get a very nice amount of light before it goes dead, perhaps 40 or so hours on standard alkalines. I've dropped mine a few times and while the plastic feels cheap, the light is still crack-free.
The top unscrews so you can hang the light upside-down (with the tent hook in the bottom) and illuminate your entire workspace.
The lantern has a "find me" function as well: when off, a small green LED in the front will blink every five seconds so you can find the lantern in the dark. I read a few reports of the "find me" light causing the batteries to run down even when the light is turned off (parasitic drain) but I fixed this by placing electrical tape between the batteries and the battery door. I'll have to remove this to use the lantern, yes, but it's the only way I know of to disable the "find me" light.
Overall, this is an excellent lighting product.

This is really a great product, the Lamp looks great on my computer desk and I love having the radio so convenient.
I plugged it in to charge with my computer and it is still going strong 2 days later.
The security alarm is very penetrating and my dog does NOT love it, but it is a great feature to have, in fact I may have to purchase another one of these to have one in my car as well as at home.

I listen to the radio late at night. The only change I would like is for the volume control to be a bit more graduated. It is set up now to be lo-medium-high. I would like to have more control, but that's not a big deal.
The flashlight is great. I have used it late at night in the house and to go to my basement. One thing, silly and minor but great, is that it is white. When the light is off, I find it easily in the dark.
Anyway, I am ready if the power goes out or there is a storm. We live in WI and we occasionally bad storms. I love that I have a light I can count on, with a radio and an alarm.

I just got one of these yesterday afternoon, it charged my cell phone outside using only solar power, in about the same time as the ac charger in the house,the tool itself never did get to full charge on solar but since there are not 18 hours of sunlite in a day this is understandable, but even on a half charge, the reading lamp was more than adequate, in fact it outlasted me, in fact used it this morning for doing eectrical soldering of small components for which, it was more than ample.also listend to the FM radio all yesterday afternoon it picked up all the local stations quite clearly, I do not know what I would use the siren for but it does drive my neighbors dogs nuts, so I would have to say that works fine also.It charged off of my computer very rapidly, I would say this tool is well worth the investment I am going to mail it to a friend of mine who lives off grid and will add her comments in a week or so.

For the price this light is actually pretty good for seedlings,lettuce and other medium/low light plants however I'd like to see a spec sheet about specifically what wavelengths the bulbs are rated for.
For those complaining about the red/violet color; Target absorption wavelengths for efficient Photosynthesis (chlorophyll A & B) in is around the 600-700nm(red) and 400-500nm(Blue) anything outside of these bands are typically of little use for green plants.
Individual LED's are manufactured and tested for specific wavelength,Light angle, and power outputs
Any Led light that expresses almost all white may be good for general indoor lighting but really inefficient for plant lighting.

I've been working on an indoor garden w/ a baseline of variety of plants & since my apt. doesn't face South I've been making do w/ the little sunlight that comes in. Hence I chose to get these grow lights. I'm not sure what anybody else means about these not being bright enough but there is always a way around issues like that. I got small portable lamps w/ can-like tunnel openings that can channel the light directly onto the plant (s) you want for just under 13 dollars. This helps maximize the amount of light emitted from these LED garden bulbs by way of channeling. Plus, the 2 wattage is great for the electric bill. I'm happy w/ thees light bulbs. One of the reasons people get such wide results from this light are that people don't have a light meter to measure the output of these lights. I do. When they are new, they put out a lot of light. Yes, it's red/blue and your eye is weighted toward yellow, so you don't see it, but the plants do. However, after several months I have tested the same lights with the same Digital Light Meter and on about half of them, the output is way, way down. So if you are okay with paying $20 for bulb that only lasts 3-6 months, this is a very good bulb. But if you expect a $20 light to last longer than 6 months, then this is not the light for you. I really wanted to like this light, but believe me when I say the output is minimal. I have orchids in a north window that needed extra light and I can honestly say that apart from a barely noticeable glow this bulb provides no increased lighting. The package and Amazon description claim equivalence to a fifty watt bulb, but the new packaging includes the note that the output is only 150 lumen, far less than the 650 lumen of a traditional fifty watt bulb. If that information had been included I would have bought a different bulb.Update, April 2013: While I stand by my criticism of the package claim, I must admit that my Alocasia does in fact have darker looking leaves under this little light. I now give it two stars.

I ordered 2 of these and they were shipped promptly (directly from Shenzhen) and arrived within 10 days.
They are alright color-wise, although slightly cooler than what I'm looking for: they are probably at 2900-3000K and I'd prefer 2700K and under.
The reason I put it at 3 stars, however, is because these are not instant on bulbs. They take at least a half second to come on, but when they are on they do come on at full brightness at least. They also appear to be the correct size, as I had no issue replacing regular PAR 20s in my recessed lighting with these.

The mounting track held the rope light very well but it lacked space for screw heads under the rope. This caused slight bumps in the linear run of the rope light at each screw location. Screwing it to outdoor surfaces is the only practical method of securing it. Double sided tape will not stand up to the sun and moisture. Pre-drilled holes would also have been nice to use. I installed about 75' of rope light under a pavilion using these tracks and some stainless steel screws from the hardware store. It was a lot of work but the result is great. They light and are very energy efficient. They won't heat up the room, which is important when you have a fixture that holds a lot of them. But you can't use these in a formal dining room. The base is this ugly plastic white thing with the brand name in readable letters and, well, I had to take them down after ten minutes. At the price, they should look fabulous. Maybe I'll use them in window candles at some hard to reach place. You could probably see them from your house when I do that.

I bought this lamp to add a little light to an area that was dark near my computer. I use it daily without any problems. The LED is very bright and works well as a spotlight, however I had to rig up a reflector/diffuser to use it to brighten, as it really is only a spotlight. I may buy another one to put on my bedside table for late night reading. There has been a few times where the light just goes out for no reason, but throwing the switch on/off fixes it easily, a little annoying but not a big deal. IKEA should be ashamed of this product. I managed to get the switch apart. Poor design and easily fixed. Just bend the metal strip so when the switch is on it makes better contact. It's that simple. I suspect that within a few months the metal strip will need to be bent again. Naturally after fixing it the switch looks terrible! Please note it was hard to pry apart the switch because the plastic is fused top/bottom on the inside posts. It's easy to slip the edge of a thin knife in the side of the switch but getting the top and bottom apart is the hard part. Good quality LED type lamp, very bright, BUT very directed light focus where the lamp head is pointed. Good book reading, studying, or computer surfing light. This is a nice, focused lamp for $10 at Ikea, but the on/off switch is a piece of Chinese garbage. I bought two of these, and both had bad switches within 2 months. First it would flicker, then finally fail. Since I'm an electronic engineer, I could and did replace the switch with a decent quality switch from Radio shack, but the average person would have trouble with this. Since it is a LED lamp, you cannot reverse the polarity of the wires going to the lamp without damage, so beware if you replace your own switch on this unit. Too bad they use such a cheap qaulity switch. Otherwise, I like the lamp for reading and spot light type uses.

Heavy gauge aluminum, looks pretty good on the deck posts. More attractive than many plastic ones out there. Easy to install. There are 2 LEDs, enough to make stairs visible. Light lasts about 6 hours after they come on at dusk. I'm satisfied with them on dark nights after sunny summer days, but performance is poor in the cloudy winter. Found them for $20 each, shop and compare. Somewhere there may be something stronger with 2 batteries instead of one.

While this is an excellent product the Amazon listing suggests more than one item will be sent, as is common for the other small step lights sold on this site. Since only one light is provided the title should be changed so the buyer is aware that this light is double the cost of its competitors.

I went to buy these at my local hardware store and YIKES! I ordered em on here and got them for way cheeper even with shipping! I have a lot of these in my kitchen (under the cabinets) There was mistake on my order they sent the wrong quatity (I ordered 4 & 8 of two different lenghts--They packed 4 & 4) But Amazon took care of it for me!.. Fit perfectly -worked perfectly AT FIRST but burned out. Obviously it is much cheaper that at the big box stores but those bulbs lasted three to five years. This bulb will last you nine weeks. I would recommend this shipper and product, They packaged the bulbs very securely and no fancy vacuum plastic display boxes that are always difficult to open.The bulbs work great.

Who knew a simple light bulb could be delightful? I have fluorescent lights above my kitchen counter and one of the bulbs burned out. I bought 3 of these because the shipping was the same price, thinking I'd have 2 spare bulbs. After I saw how bright this was compared to my old bulbs, I immediately replaced all of the kitchen lights. The difference is incredible. New light bulbs make all the difference!
