I bought this unit without being able to see one in person, so I wasn't quite sure what I would be getting. I wanted stainless, but didn't feel like paying $1000+ for a hood. I am happy to say it is a very attractive unit, well built, easy to install, and works reasonably well.
I say reasonably, and I don't have anything to compare it to, so take this with a grain of salt, because at the lower speed settings, it will not draw air/steam from the front burners of the stove. When set to high speed, it does a good job, and does direct everything coming off the stove top up the flue.
The stainless is relatively easy to clean, but the top of the hood will get greasy if the fan isn't on and you are cooking with oil. The lights are nice and bright, and the fan isn't nearly as loud as some of the commercial units, but it doesn't draw as well either. Overall this is a good unit at a great price for someone looking to spice up the look of their kitchen without breaking the bank.

I purchased this hood to go atop our corner stove/range. The stove/range is our focal point in our kitchen. It's been up for a little over three weeks, and the hood looks spectacular. I also love that it has multiple settings for the fan. Even on low, it's not loud, and it does a good job of sucking up air. I'm definitely pleased with this purchase, and it was the cheapest on Amazon!Best Deals for
I received and installed this unit about six months ago and I'm very pleased with how it performs and its aesthetics.I'm a fairly big DIYer, so I would rate the install as a difficulty of 5-6 on a 1-10 scale. Having the electrical and other measurements for cabinets, range, etc. before hand is a must and also do some research, check youtube, google, ask friends and professionals questions and it will make your efforts less frustrating.
As for the operation of the unit it works well, the blower fan is louder on higher setting than many more expensive units, it does move and vent the air well. I'm recycling the air through the provided charcoal filters. If you cook a lot I would suggest venting to the outdoors. If you are replacing a unit with this use the outdoor vent. My only cosmetic con comment would be the white plastic cover for the switches seems a little dingy compared to the rest of the unit.
I'm no professional chef so this unit works well for my needs and will be a great addition to 90% of homes who need a simple economical range ventilation systems or are looking for a little more eye candy in the kitchen.

The idea to purchase this hood came from a vist to Ikea. There is a similar hood there but with FREE 2 day shipping (Prime/Student) Amazon is my first choice if they have what I'm looking for. Broan products are basically ubiquitous being found in bathrooms and kitchens throughout the U.S. therefore I knew that the manufacturing of the item ought to be good. The unit met my expectation in this regard and then some. I had planned to vent through the wall however some of the framing and the location of the plug caused me to have to vent through the roof. If you're upgrading from a standard-style hood you may want to look carefully at what you may have to cut through to get this done, i.e. joists, rafters, ductwork. I found the paperwork inside theunit behind the grease screen after a little searching and it took about 3 hours to install, not including a trip to the store for steel duct, roof boot, etc... This is a good unit at this price, in my opinion.
