I wanted to get these to put in a clear globed lantern to put outside for mood lighting. I noticed some other color changing tea lights said the color changed too frenetically, so I was worried I was going to get the crazy disco-flash type, but these are lovely. They do change color relatively quickly, but its not like a flash; it's still a smooth switch from one color to the next. If you have any of those color changing solar garden lights (like in dragon fly or hummingbird shape), then know that these are similar to that in how they change color.

I don't know how long they last because I've only used them on evening so far, but they were lovely.

I did mark off one star, which is really a personal preference. Of course, they look terribly fake and not like a candle at all, but they still are pretty mood lights. So I would say I'd prefer to put them in something where you couldn't quite see them (only their light), rather than my clear-globed lantern. But others may not mind the looks.

I'm quite happy I bought them!

Excellent for the price. I have been using these inside a silver metal Christmas tree and inside of some small aluminum Christmas boxes every night for a few hours since before Christmas. I even left them on a whole night accidentally. The battery is still going strong.
