Unlike most lava lamps this one you fill yourself with (distilled) water. The system works with a water pump pumping the water around and making the fish swim.

This lamp is really very cute and the light intensity (blue color) is good for a night light. The noise the pump makes however was driving my kids insane.

We bought this for our sons' to use in their room as a night light. It is so loud that they cannot sleep. I can hear it down the hall with the door closed! We are all very disappointed. I do not recommend this product.

I got this for a night lite for my son and it works great! It's just enough light for the room. The lamp does have a bit of humming noise but it is a great white noise for sleeping. I haven't had a problem with anything and would recommend it.

Just add distilled water and wait a bit and the fish start swimming. Its a bit noisy from the motor and rumbles a tad. A bit distracting in a quiet room.

The top cap is not tight... if it falls water will spill out easily.

Don't waste your money on this item... The fish are cheaply made and do not swim as the picture implies even after carefully following the directions for setting up the lava light. I ended up returning this item because of the lack of the "lifelike swimming" and the surplus of "dead like floating" that the fish partook in.
