It was fabulous to have this bright light in our kitchen/family room during those dark nights. It was easy to read, work and cook by this light, even after many hours of use. It recharges completely during the day, even on cloudy days. It was a great comfort with the power out. The Sun Portal casts such a nice light we use it often, on a daily basis, now that the power is back on.
The system was complete as shipped. It was packaged very well for safe transit, with all of the necessary parts and with clear and precise instructions. It even came with a long drill bit to make the small hole in the outside wall, which is needed to connect the outdoor solar panel to the indoor light and storage battery unit, and with clear silicone sealant. That was a very thoughtful and nice touch. The installation instructions guided us step by step. The location of the solar panel on the outside wall is not too critical, since the panel has a very high output capacity for charging the battery. The location of the light on the inside wall is somewhat more critical, since you want the light to be in spot that can reach and fill the entire space very handy in a power outage! We put the light above the TV on our southeast wall. The light was bright enough to reach our stove, sink and countertops more than 20 feet away. It does not interfere with viewing the TV. The integral shade does a nice job of diffusing the light.
Once installed and charged, the light worked very well. We love it! It is an attractive fixture and the very high efficiency LEDs throw a lot of light into the room. We have been enjoying this new addition to our home, especially knowing that we are using energy directly from the sun in our own backyard!

We installed a Sunportal indoor solar light in our large, three-bay boat barn, where it provides an astonishing amount of light, far more than we ever imagined it could put out. Despite clear instructions, we managed to connect two wires incorrectly. The good news is that Yeti Solar responded to our email three hours after we sent it, and Rustom Meyer sent detailed instructions on how to find what we'd done wrong and how to correct it. Great service! The newest model has color coded wires, which makes it pretty much impossible to repeat our error.We can't recommend the light and the company highly enough.

I've been sampling 12VDC lights for a few years now and have been less than impressed with what I can get at automotive stores, Tractor Supply Co and Northern Tool. I was astounded at both the quality and quantity of light put out by the Yeti Solar Exclamation light. I've been in the solar industry for 9 years now and am currently in a product vetting role. I've been interested in renewable and off-grid energy for a long time, but it wasn't until I got this that it stopped being an abstract "someday" thing. I can't really do a total-system RE overhaul in my rented highrise apt, but installing a small kit like the SunPortal was definitely do-able with a few work-arounds, so we bit the bullet and ordered one.Delivery was prompt, everything was well-packaged, nothing broke. The packing material was all eco-friendly, which I thought was a nice touch (some kind of biodegradable plastic bubbles, plus brown paper and cardboard. No styrofoam here.) It looks a little intimidating at first when you take everything out of the box... very "assembly required," but there are instructions with pictures on the website, and the service is friendly. Taking the actual solar panel out of its box was the coolest part so far. Really looking forward to putting it together next time I have a free afternoon; we're planning to hang the fixture in our living room with the solar panel on the adjacent outdoor balcony.
