What is not so great is that there is no indication of what setting you have the lights on. You have to guess by watching the pattern, and some of the patterns take a minute or so to run properly. There are supposed to be 8 patterns. I may have a defective unit, or my eye is not noticing a great deal of difference in some of the patters, so I feel there are only about 5 patterns I noticed. The switching between them is done by pressing a button that functions very poorly. You sometimes press it and it does not seem to switch and you have to try again. It also seems that it does not go through the patterns in sequence each time the button is pushed. At times it seems to simply repeat a pattern one or two presses previous. The control unit also runs very warm. Overall it is made rather cheaply and does not seem of very good quality.
Now due to the fact that I have four channels working independently randomly cycling through the programmed pattern, my tree looks awesome. But for the amount of money this unit costs, I expected a much higher quality unit that would not have so many drawbacks. If this were one third the price, I would give it much better review, but as is, look for this type of controller somewhere less expensive. I give it the two stars only because the tree looks great with the patterns I did find working,

All of the settings don't work. The ones I liked did work so I'll be able to use it. Can't expect much more for the cost.
