I installed one in an outside fixture that is enclosed and elevated. The sensor does not seem to work in these conditions. They work well if the fixture is open-ended and the top of the bulb is facing the open end or pointed downward.

Using in a pantry. Works well in daytime when pantry is dark and room is light. Wish it were a little brighter.
However at night it curiously does not turn off when the room pantry is in is dark also.
Overall the only working application I found for use as a sensor in a can light.

I purchased four bulbs for use in different locations. I've found they are most effective when they are in an elevated position such as in the overhead of a stairwell. When they are installed in fixtures that are on the wall at just above head level the detection/activation range is greatly reduced, which is my only complaint. All the installations were in open "fluted" type fixtures. I am satisfied with them based on their price and their overall performance.
