I have only recently purchased this headlamp. I cannot vouch for durability or how it will last, but here are my initial impressions. Even though I have listed more cons, I believe the pros to outweigh the cons.
Pros
-Light weight
-No need to lug batteries around or worry that your battery will run out and leave you stranded in the dark
Cons
-No instructions
-Small headband
-Annoying bulky plastic packaging it comes in (I would think 'an earth friendly company' marketing a 'green item' would have more eco-friendly packaging materials)
-only 1 button to cycle through each mode and then turn off would be nicer to have a mode button and an on/off switch
The adjustable head band is kind of small, a lot smaller than head lamps I've had in the past. Maybe I just have a big head. It fits with all adjustments fully expanded, but it's a little tighter than I would like.
As others have stated, it's annoying not to have instructions on how to operate this lamp, and being plastic I was afraid I was going to break it.
I uploaded pictures to help understand my instructions. Here are my instructions, hope they help you:
-Flip the head lamp upside down
-Place your thumb in the middle of the base where it connects to the headband
-Push down on the piece of plastic/base and slide it towards the back of the headlamp (away from the bulb)
-Remove the Base
-Unfold the crank and crank away to charge the lamp

This is by far the best flashlight I've ever had in my life (as of today). I ordered this lamp on October 12, 2011. The key to this head lamp is knowing how to use it (which is hard considering that the lamp came in a package with absolutely NO instructions whatsoever).Take the "base" (the part where the strap is attached to), then pull the "bulb" (the oval/egg shaped part that has the button and LED thing on the front) apart from the base. It'll snap, so then you just gently pull the two apart. Now theres a lever that you can just flip up and wind (be careful because the handle is very small).
Once you've winded it for a bit (I suggest winding it for a minute), now just press the button for three different "styles" (Dim, bright, and blinking bright).
*Tip*
The button is a little tricky to press. You have to find your own "style" of pressing it (Pressing and sliding up/down or just simply pressing hard).
