The high/low/off switch on my desk lamp allows high 50-watt and lower illumination with this halogen bulb. This is a very useful feature. Halogen bulbs come in different designations that have different size plugs/prongs on the bulb. The two bulbs in this package have the T4 JC designation. If T4 JC is not printed or stamped somewhere on your lamp, the lampshade, the original box, or the papers that came with your lamp this bulb will not fit properly into the bulb sockets in your lamp. If the numbers don't match use another halogen bulb that matches the bulb designation on your lamp. This bulb is very hot, very bright, and will burn fingers. Under no circumstances touch the bare bulb when removing it from the packaging. Hold it in a clean handerchief or something similar during installation. Otherwise, oil on your skin will cause the bulb to burn out prematurely. The price is fair and includes free shipping. Have had these bulbs for one month. No problems with the first bulb so far. Would probably buy another package of two when they eventually burn out if amazon still has free shipping.

Honest reviews on Feit Electric BPQ50T4 50-Watt T4 JC Halogen Bulb with Bi-Pin Base

I have been using these bulbs for over 4 years in my outdoor Malibu 50 watt spotlights. They work OK but I am not happy with the life of the bulbs. They are only lasting a little over 3 months operating about 9 to 10 hours a night. When they blow they are difficult to get out of the lighting fixtures because the glass of the bulb shatters as the bulbs run extremely hot. I always have to get a pair of long nose pliers to remove the pin or pins that are stuck in the lamp plug. I also have to pick out the broken glass as many times the bulb base shatters. At over $4 per bulb this gets expensive and time consuming to change frequently.

Make sure that when you install the bulb you do not touch it as the oil from your skin will make the bulb fail prematurely. I still gave the bulb 4 stars because it may be condensation because they are used outside.
