Hmm-well....I *purchased* the item known on amazon.com as "Multi-Color E27 LED Light bulb w/ Remote" but I did NOT receive the item pictured **there**...what I *actually received* was THIS item. The *bulb* appears to be the same, but *this* remote is different from *that* remote.
The first thing you should know about this thingammy is there are no instructions, Sporty. Not only are instructions not included, but instructions-in-written-form apparently DO NOT EXIST. I received my item purchased from amazon.com vendor, with Free Super Saving Shipping as a gift for 10-year-old niece. No instructions. I contacted the Apparent Manufacturer in California (see other review) and was advised that no instructions exist.
OK. It's a gift for a 10-year-old, so I.....Experimented. "I'm Smart Enough and People Like Me, eh!!!"
That is to say, I'm not the most XLNT on this-sorta-thing, but after about 45 minutes, I figured out ["I think"] the following:
the right-hand-vertical-strip which is yellow is a light-brightness-control; it works Good. Although the Thing Itself is not what yer'd call Frighteningly Bright at its brightess, I suppose that's All Fine. It's mebbe a 5-or-10-watt sorta affair. Looks fine when all the reggler lights are turned out.
the colored grid-o-buttons on the remote is for when you want to just have the light do *ONE* color....the color that you choose with the button. And that part works fine, too. Like, for instance, the several different buttons on the remote which are 'blue' *do* make different light tones.
the 'On' and 'Off' buttons [top-row, right-hand-side] do work...so you do not have to manually turn whatever-lamp-you-put-it-in off. [Also ::: if you put this in a lamp with a translucent shade, the remote *will* KINDA work through the shade. IF you punch it and aim it a Good Bit. But it works MUCH BETTER in a lamp without a shade, eh.]
the second [horizontal] row of buttons down-from the top are what you use to make it turn from one color to another on its own. The one called 'Strobe' is actually a SLOWER flash than the setting called 'Flash'...the 'Flash' runs about one color per second, and the 'Strobe' about one color in three seconds. The button called 'Fade' is about one color per three-five seconds, but they Change Rather Suavely from one to the next instead of blinking (like the 'Flash' and 'Strobe' settings *blink*). The button called 'Smooth' is like the 'Fade' button, except a bit slower.
As far as *I* can figure out, the buttons on the top-row-left which are called 'Setup' and 'Cancel' don't seeeeeem to operate. [Mebbe they do, but I am just too lame to figure it out. Yah, INSTRUCTIONS would be Handy.] The Thing I am Gittin' At here ::: is that I would have guessed that the 'Setup' button would allow one to program whatever combination of light sequences which one desired to observe....but that does NOT appear to be the case. One can make the thing burn steady in whatever color one chooses *OR* one can make it cycle through the lights which ***IT*** chooses.
the remote runs off of one of them Flat Round 'Watch' Battery Thingies, which is [[[thankfully]]] included. It is about 3/4 inch across and bears the imprint ::: CR2025 Fante 3V Lithium Battery. FWIW.
And alllll that is O.K., I guess. It is not a Turbly Expensive item, and I am sure the 10-year-old niece will enjoy the thing, after I coach her on how to use it, 'cause of there being...did I mention???...NO INSTRUCTIONS EXTANT.
But I am not *completely* thrilled.
UPDATE: Actually...upon Further Review...the *bulb* that I got is a reggler ol' screw-in kind, not this prongy kind. But the remarks re: using the remote will still apply. The product was exactly what I was hoping for, and it arrived even more quickly than I expected. Also, I found the same product without a remote for a higher price with another company, so the price for both was great. Will shop this merchant next time.
