It does what it says it would, and would not do anything else. The light is modestly bright, and hardly focused, so don't expect it to light up your whole patio. It will detect even slightest movement though, so you can rely on it coming on pretty much every time.

I am really happy with these lights. I have a pitch-black "alley" on the side of my house where my garbage cans are located. I could never see anything before but now I can. I have three of the white ones. Since I did not want to mount them to the brick of the house, I have them set up on the ground. They put out a lot of light and the heads pivot so I can focus the light wherever I would like. They are lightweight, attractive, weatherproof, and portable. I like that they run on batteries and don't require wires. I love solar-powered items but no light gets to this alley, so it would not work at all in my situation. They have a 10 foot reach and cast a lot of light. They stay on for a good length of time and if they go out, just do a quick wave and they'll be back on. I couldn't be happier with them.

We needed something to illuminate the front door so we could unlock it at night. This little light is perfect. It runs on 4 AA batteries so there is no need for wiring. Installation took about 3 minutes. Couldn't be easier.

We had to use duct tape to hold the light in place because the weight of the batteries made it tilt all the way down no way to tighten it (that we know of). Other than that it seems to be working really well.

When i read several reviews they said the light was good and lit an area about 10 feet. I purchased 2 of them, installed one and when I opened the second box the part of the base that stops the light from moving was defective so the light wouldn't hold in position. After it got dark and I found a lit match makes just about as much light as this unit I proceeded to throw both of them into the garbage.
